영어회화 16일 : 긍정적 추정

1. Maybe ~ : 아마도 ~ 일 겁니다.

Maybe he already knows about it.   아마 그사람도 이미 그걸 알고있을거야.

Yeah, maybe he does.     그래, 아마도 그럴 거야.

• 나 오늘 저녁에 올지도 몰라요.   I’ll probably come tonight.
• 다음 기회로 미루죠.  Maybe some other time.
• 좀 쉬는게 어때요.  Maybe you need some time off.

 

2. I think ~  :  ~ 라고 생각합니다.

I think he will succeed.    나는 그사람이 성공할꺼라고 생각해.
Yeah, he did a fabulous job last year.    그럼, 작년에 정말 대단한 일을했지.

• 난 반드시 그가 훌륭하게 해낼 거라고 믿어.     I bet he will do a great job.
• 난 그가 무난하게 잘해낼거라고 생각해.     I guess he’ll be okay.
• 맞춰봐    Guess what.

 

3. I’m sure that ~  :  반드시 ~ 할 거에요.

 

I’m so worried about the result.   결과 때문에 너무 걱정돼.

I’m sure you will pass the test.    넌 분명히 시험에 합격할거야.

• 난 네가 시험에 합격할 거라고 확신해.    I know you will pass the test.
• 난 그녀가 잘하고 있을거라고 확신해.     I’m sure that she’s doing well.
• 그건 시간문제일 뿐이야.     It’s only a matter of time.

 

4. 영어로 말해보기

Mira     :  나 다음주에 런던에 가.

James :  휴가로?

Mira     :  아니, 공부하러. 나 거기 대학으로가.

James :  정말? 와, 전혀몰랐네.

Mira     :  조금 걱정돼

James :  난 네가 거기서 아주 잘할 것 같아.

Mira     :  응, 나도 잘 지낼 것 같아. 하지만 매일 시험을 봐야한대.

James :  걱정마. 넌 아주 잘할거라고 난 확신해.

Mira     :  고마워, 어렵겠지만 어쩌면 바쁜 일정을 즐기게 될지도 모르지.

James :  그럼.

 

Mira     :  I’m going to London next week.

James :  For vacation?

Mira     :  No, to study. I’m going to a college there.

James :  Really? Wow, I had no idea.

Mira     :  Well, I’m a little worried.

James :  I think you’ll do a great study there.

Mira     :  Yeah, I guess I’ll be okay. But I heard I have to take a test every day!

James :  Don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll be just fine.

Mira     :  Thanks. It’s going to be tough, but maybe I will enjoy the busy schedule.

James :  Of course.

부장    :  고마워요. 음..이친구 어때보여요?조금 약해보이지 않나?

James :  그렇게 보일지도 모르죠. 하지만 그는 그분야에서 경험이 많아요. 그의 건강은 괜찮을거라고 확신해요.

부장     :  알겠어요. 그런데 회사에서 너무 멀리 사네요.

James :  곧 회사 근처로 이사올 것 같아요.

부장     :  어떻게 이 사람에 대해 그렇게 잘 알아요?

James :  사실은 제 사촌이거든요.

 

James :  Here’s the resume of Mr. Tom Brown.

부장     :  Thanks. Hmm, what do you think of this guy? Doesn’t he look a little....too weak?

James :  Maybe he does. But he’s well – experienced in the field. I’m sure his health is okay.

부장     :  Okay, and he lives too far from work.

James :  I think he will move closer to the company.

부장     :  How come you know about this guy so well?

James :  Actually, he’s my cousin.
